Recall: ELC Colouring Pencils

Early Learning Centre has announced a recall on all Colouring Pencils and Chubbie Pencils sold during December 2007 and January 2008.

The dark green paint used in these products has been found to contain levels of lead and chromium exceeding those permissible.

ELC have stated that the pencils “are unlikely to pose any immediate or acute health concerns but we do not recommend their continued use.”

The pencils can be returned to any branch for a full refund. ELC also have a Customer Helpline number on: 08705 352352.

Recall: Woolworths Chad Valley Wooden Construction Train

Excessive levels of lead have been found on the surfaces of some of the orange painted blocks.

A specific batch with a batch number of: S/N:0727 Sku Code 304 A 2980) is affected. The orange painted surfaces on some wooden blocks may contain excessive levels of lead which can cause adverse health effects.

Recall: ELC Face Paints

Early Learning Centre has announced a recall on all Face Painting Kits (ref:110302), Green Compacts (ref:100377) and Yellow Compacts (ref:100381) sold from 1 January 2007 and 21 December 2007. Some of the stock has been found to contain levels of lead and chromium exceeding those permissible.

ELC have stated that “advice from chemical experts indicates that these products are unlikely to pose any immediate or acute health concerns. That said, children should stop using them.”
