Lego Minifigures Series 5 is now in the shops. As collectors have come to expect, there are 16 men, women and ocassional monsters to collect. Packs are sold for around £2 each.
Buying minifigures has a little lucky dip element to it, each figure is sold in a sealed foil mystery bag. So, you will not know which character you’ve got – until you’ve paid for and opened your pack. Duplicates or unwanted minifigures can be traded with friends or other collectors.
Not only is there a figure in the pack, but also a little base plate for your figure to stand on; and with most figures there’s an accessory too.
I’ve bought two minifigures from series 5 so far: a lumberjack (and he’s OK) with his own axe; and a lady zookeeper which comes with a monkey that can be fixed to Lego bricks and bases or held by its arm by the hand of a minifigure. The zookeeper is also provided with a banana, which in Legoland apparently grow bigger than a Lego man’s leg.

Alas, the detective figure that I covet is not yet in my collection. I may have to resort to paying a ransom to a dealer on eBay and Amazon which offer specific figures but expect us to pay more. The price will also vary depend on how rare and popular certain figurines become.
