Christmas 2015 : Last Order Dates for Deliveries

John Lewis Toy Post BoxIf you want to get most of your Christmas shopping done without wearing down too much shoe leather, then be warned, the last chance to place orders that will be delivered in time is merely days away.

Here are the delivery cut-off dates quoted by some of the nation’s most well known toy retailers:

Toys “R” Us

You’ll need to order by midday Monday 21st December for delivery in most of the UK, however, if you want a parcel delivered to a more remote or rural area then the deadline is midday Friday 18th December. Toys “R” Us also point out that anything that needs to be delivered by two people, such as a large snooker or air hockey table, must be ordered by midday Tuesday 15th December.

The Entertainer

The deadline for standard delivery is midnight Thursday 17th December. If you use the express service then the cut-off is 7pm Tuesday 22nd December. The Entertainer also work with same-day delivery firm Shutl who delivery items within 90 minutes by popping down the shop for you. You can order using Shutl up until midday Christmas Eve.


You’re last chance to order from the world’s most famous toy store is Sunday 20th December.

Early Learning Centre

ELC simply state on their website: “Order now for guaranteed delivery before Christmas…”, and then the company warns about possible circumstances beyond their control, such as the weather, affecting this guarantee. It’s worth heeding this advice because during late November ELC’s quoted delivery times being between ten to fourteen days, due to the increased demand created from its Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers.


If you want to get some loyalty points from LEGO’s VIP scheme while you buy presents, then the last date to shop online is Saturday 19th December.

John Lewis

If you wish to use John Lewis’ standard delivery service, order by 8pm Sunday 20th December. To use next day, named day and premium services orders must be placed by 8pm Tuesday 22nd December. Click and collect orders also need to be placed by 8pm Tuesday 22nd December.


The cut-off date for standard delivery from Harrod’s is Sunday 20th December. Orders for next day delivery need to be placed by 1pm Tuesday 22nd December.

Great Little Trading Company

Last orders for standard delivery at GLTC are on Monday 21st December. Orders for next day delivery can be placed up to 22nd December.


To get goods in time for Christmas from Firebox via standard or Saturday delivery, place the order by 5pm Friday 18th December. The deadline for express delivery is 12 pm Monday 21st December. To use the courier option, place the order by 7pm Tuesday 22nd December.


Order by 3pm Monday 21st December for delivery before Christmas in most of the UK, however, large items are excluded and gift vouchers must be ordered by midnight Wednesday 16th December. Orders going to addresses in Scotland’s highlands and islands, place them by 3pm Wednesday 16th December.

As Smyth’s began in Co. Galway, it’s worth mentioning delivery cut-off dates in Ireland. If you’re spending euros, order by 2pm Saturday 19th December but order gift cards before Wednesday 16th. If you want delivery to a post code starting with the letter BT, then you have until 3pm Monday 21st December but gift vouchers also need to be ordered by midnight Wednesday 16th.

Remember not to order in vain, when it comes to large, bulky items &c.
