Mothercare Restructures Executive Committee
Mothercare has had a shake-up of roles in its boardroom, with CEO Mark Newton-Jones putting in place a new structure for the company’s executive committee.
A new role, Chief Customer Officer (CCO), has been created. The CCO will be responsible for UK retail stores, e-commerce, brand marketing, customer relationship management, insight and concessions. Gary Kibble will take on this post in an interim capacity before joining Sainsbury’s (owners of Argos as well as the supermarket chain) in June. Mr. Kibble has been on the Mothercare board for two years as Global Brand and Marketing Director.
Matt Stringer takes the new position of Global Product Officer, previously he was UK Managing Director. The new role makes Mr. Stringer responsible for all the products Mothercare brings to market, such as, clothing, footwear, nursery goods, toys, Early Learning Centre, Mini Club (concessions in Boot’s stores) and he will also be responsible for central planning, sourcing and wholesale.
The Global Product Officer role supersedes the previous job of Merchandise Director which was held by Karl Doyle. As a result of the restructure Mr. Doyle will leave the business.
Kevin Rusling will join Mothercare in April as International Managing Director. Mr. Rusling is currently a senior director at Monsoon.
Richard Smothers remains the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Dan Talisman continues as Group General Counsel, responsible for legal and company secretarial duties.
Two appointments have also been made that are not on the executive committee, Kirsty Homer will join Mothercare as Director of Human Resources, while Keith Basnett receives an internal promotion to the position of Business Transformation Director.
