FAO Schwarz is making a comeback with 186 new shops inside department stores owned by Bon-Ton Stores Inc.

There will also be a pop-up shop in Manhattan, New York in the Bergdorf Goodman department store.

The stores are trading now, however, 10am on 4 November will see FAO Schwarz relaunch in a number of locations with a ribbon cutting event.

The company also trades online with its own website, FAOSchwarz.com, and with their merchandise available on BonTon.com and BergdorfGoodman.com.

Famous for the scene in the 1988 film Big where Tom Hanks dances and plays on a giant floor piano, FAO Schwarz will stock a version you can take home. The shops will also sell range of quality classic toys, sweets and confection.

FAO Schwarz was founded in 1862 but closed the doors of its last store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue in 2015.

At the time, the retailer was owned by Toys R Us who sold the brand in October 2016 to ThreeSixty Group, a company that designs and manufactures and large number of consumer products, including toys.
