Breyer to Toy with Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse

War Horse book coverBreyer are to make a model of Joey – the horse that was a character in Michael Morpurgo’s 1982 children’s book War Horse.

The book, which has since been adapted to theatre and will soon have a cinematic release this Decembe, is set in England during World War I. In 1914, Joey, a young farm horse, is sold to the army and sent to the war with the cavalry on the Western Front. Joey witnesses the full horror of the frontline. Having been owned by a village farmer, a heartbroken farmer’s son called Albert goes in search of his beloved horse. Read more

Without doubt, Red Rum is the most famous race horse in British history. Britain’s most famous horse won the Britain’s most famous race, the Grand National, in 1973, 1974 and 1977. Red Rum was also runner-up of the Grand National twice. The legendary Red Rum died at the age of 30 in 1995 and is buried near the winning post at Aintree. Read more
