USA Toy Recall: Swing Sets Recalled by Adventure Playsets due to Fall Hazard

Recalled Adventure Playsets Swings, Slide and Climber as sold at Walmart and othersAdventure Playsets Wooden Swing Sets have been recalled in co-operation with the CPSC (US Consumer Products Safety Commission) and Health Canada, due to a potential fall hazard.

The wood in the posts of the fort sections on these swing sets can weaken due to rotting, posing a fall hazard. Adventure Playsets has received more than 500 complaints about weakened wood in the 2×4 plastic-coated uprights. One report of a fall was received when the ladder failed resulting in bruises and scratches.

Approximately 240,000 of these products – made in the USA – are affected and in November 2009 there was a recall for a similar hazard, which listed 275,000 playsets in the U.S. and 6,800 in Canada.Continue Reading

USA Toy Recall: Wooden Animal Drum Due to Lead Paint

Cost Plus Inc. and the CPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) have recall Wooden Animal Drum toys, due excessive levels of lead paint.

The paint used on the drum is in excess of the maximum allowable level of 90 ppm, a violation of the federal lead paint standard. There have been no reported incidents or injuries involving this product that was made in China, at the time of writing.Continue Reading

USA Toy Recall: Military Copters Sold in Rite Aid Stores

Excite USA have issued a recall of its Military Copters, toy helicopters, due to laceration hazard. The affected products were sold exclusively at Rite Aid Stores in the United States.

Around 24,000 units of this China made product are affected. The plastic blades of the helicopter can detach during use which poses a laceration hazard. Three incidents were reported, two to Excite and one to CPSC (US Consumer Products Saftey Commission). Two of these incidents involved laceration injuries.Continue Reading
