Mothercare & ELC Now Accepts Gift Vouchers in Australian Liquidation Sale

Mothercare - store closures - administrationThe administrators of Mothercare Australia have eased some of the restrictions it placed on the use of gift cards, returns, exchanges and the redemption of loyalty rewards, as it continues liquidation sales in Mothercare, Early Learning Centre and Kids Central stores.

The following changes were applied by the administrators on 15th March 2013 and will remain until 28th March 2013.

Gift cards will now be accepted if the total transaction amount is four times the value of the voucher. For example, if you have a $20 gift card then you must spend $80 in order to use it.Continue Reading

Liquidation Sale Starts at Mothercare, ELC and Kids Central in Australia

Mothercare - store closures - administrationNo buyer has been found for the Australian Mothercare business. All stock in the company’s remaining stores has been reduced by 20 to 40% as the company is placed into voluntary liquidation.

This sale is advertised as a “TOTAL LIQUIDATION” and that “Everything Must Go”. All sales are final in Mothercare, Early Learning Centre and Kids Central stores, therefore refunds and exchanges will be refused. The company stopped accepting gift vouchers when it went into administration at the end of January, any gift cards or voucher are now worthless. Mothercare have recalled a number of its baby travel swings because there is a potential risk that these products could tip-over or otherwise allow a child to fall from the swing; posing a potential risk of injury to children.

The nursery, toy and clothing retailer’s associate Australian company recognised a deterioration of trading conditions in the country and announced in November 2012 that it decided to sell the business to Myer Family Company Holdings. Mothercare Q3 2012: Sales Performance Still on the Slide

Internet order collection point in a corner of the store.Britain’s high streets continues to be a problem for Mothercare, as the company makes an interim management statement on its trading performance over Christmas in the 13-week period up to 12th January 2013.

Overall sales declined by -7.4% in the third quarter due to the continuing poor performance of its stores in the UK. Like-for-like sales in the UK were down -5.9%, however, there was a -12.9% drop without taking into consideration the closure of 8 loss-making Early Learning Centre shops and 3 unprofitable Mothercare stores.

Even the growth of the company’s internet presence appears to be stunted, with just a 0.9% increase despite the introduction of new e-commerce technology and (lately) a new mobile phone app, however, the company was keen to point out that during December there was 12% gain in its mail order business.Continue Reading

The replica cherries on the two toy cupcakes (fairy cakes), that were included with the tea set, may become detached; this results in a small part that, if ingested, may choke a small child.
