Snap-band bracelets that were supplied with issue 18 of 110% Gaming have been recalled by, DC Thomson, the magazine’s publisher.
There have been instances where the plastic covering of the snap-band has become separated from the metal on the inside. The exposed metal poses a potential laceration hazard.
In a public recall notice, DC Thomson stated: “The product has been thoroughly tested and found compliant with all relevant legislation, including European Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 and BSI EN71. However, as a precautionary measure we are recalling the affected product.”
Issue 18 of 110% Gaming has the barcode/ISSN: 9772056777014 18
If you are in possession of this snap-band, you should remove and keep the product out of the reach of children. You can return the affected snap-bands by requesting a pre-paid, stamped addressed envelope from DC Thomson. The publisher will provide an alternative product to replace the snap-band. DC Thomson went on to state: “Please be assured that we take our readers’ safety very seriously. DC Thomson will not be providing snap-bands as gifts on any magazine title in the future.” A wise decision, as other snap-band bracelets have been found with metal inside before, that could also potentially cut skin. Cut-down metal from retractable tape measures have previously been found to have been used in snap-band.
