Toys R Us stores in the UK will be hosting an event that hopes to help children with autism, their parents and care givers enjoy the store more.
On Sunday 6th November, Toys R Us stores will open an hour early providing an environment with altered conditions for families affected by autism and additional needs.
In-store lighting will be dimmed, the number of fluorescent lights reduced, music will be switched-off and there will be no announcements made on the public address system.
Toys R Us also promise there will be autism friendly signage and the use of a quiet zone, should the need arise.
The event takes place for one hour before the store opens to the general public. Check locally for when this takes place but as a rough guide expect the event to take place at the following times:
England & Wales : 10 am to 11 am
Scotland : 9 am to 10 pm
Northern Ireland : 12 pm to 1 pm
There may be different times in some locations, such as, shopping centres, contact the store you want to visit for more details. Contact information is available via the company’s website.
Toys R Us have been hosting autism friendly shopping events since 2014.
