Polly Pocket toys are to be relaunched by Mattel with a new look to the tiny dolls and a new animated series to enjoy.
The new product lines were shown at this year’s New York Toy Fair and will be available to buy in-stores from this summer.
Polly Pocket was originally released in the late-eighties by Bluebird, a British toy manufacturer based in Swindon.
Mattel bought the company in 1998 and the following year it released a redesigned range of Polly Pocket toys with larger dolls.
The 2018 relaunch will see Polly Pocket return to a size more familiar to children who played with the original toys. Although Polly and her friends will have a new updated look that ties-in with the animated cartoons that will be broadcast online.
Hailey Sullivan, Vice President of Marketing, Girls Toy Box Mattel said: “Many of today’s parents were the generation that made Polly Pocket a phenomenon and now they can introduce their children to Polly’s world.
“We know that the 90’s is making a resurgence so what better time to bring back the beloved micro-playsets for the next generation.”
