Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers have been recalled after at least 32 babies have died in them
since the product was introduced in 2009.
Anyone who owns these sleepers should stop it use immediatly. Fisher-Price can be contacted
for a refund or voucher.
The sleepers are soft padded cradles with a restraint harness, the cradles also have an automatic
rocking function. The deaths occurred when unrestrained children rolled over from their backs
onto their stomachs or side. 4.7 million Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers have been sold for
between $40 and $149.
In a recall notice, the Consumer Products Safety Commission did not state what caused the
deaths, however, an investigation by Consumer Reports found that some of the babies had died
of suffocation.
Fisher-Price stated that it stood by the safety of its products and was issuing a voluntary recall
“…due to reported incidents in which the product was used contrary to the safety warnings and
instructions.”
