Toys R Us stores in Canada will now temporarily close until 30th March 2020, in response to the worldwide COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
All 82 Canadian branches of Toys R Us and Babies R Us will be closed to the public, however, a curbside pick-up service will continue to operate at all stores. The company will also continue to trade online.
CEO Vic Bertrand, said in a statement published online: “This decision is based on prioritizing the well-being of our customers and team members. “As we navigate the days and weeks ahead we will continue to deliver on this commitment to you our loyal customers. This decision will be reviewed on a daily basis after considering the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada.”
Yesterday, in the USA, toy retailer FAO Schwarz announced it would close its New York City store until 30th March 2020. Disney’s parks and stores worldwide have also temporarily shutdown due to coronavirus.
